ReplyDeleteFirst of all I apologize for the delayed response. I think it may be helpful for you to learn some fundamentals of cloud computing.
As far as career path goes I must say that more and more companies are moving towards cloud computing to refrain from hardware and maintenance cost. So knowing cloud computing will be helpful. The trick part is not the programming aspect of cloud computing. It is the multi-tenant environment that you have to learn and understand. While it is true that more companies tend towards cloud, there are significant # of companies that still take the old school route of building intranet based application that are hosted on internal server and maintained by the company.
I am sure with your experience of 5 years picking up any technology is not tough. In my career what has helped me is not sticking to one technology.
